Nishisakawick Creek Preserve

In March 2000, the Hunterdon Land Trust Alliance (HLTA) partnered with the New Jersey Green Acres Program to preserve a 12-acre parcel of land in Frenchtown Borough adjacent to the Frenchtown Borough Park.
The protected property includes the stream corridor along the Nishisakawick Creek upstream of Frenchtown Park.
The wooded stream corridor is home to the long-tailed salamander and other wildlife. The pristine area is forested and contains a scenic hemlock ravine.
In protecting this land, the entire Nishisakawick Creek corridor within the borders of the Borough of Frenchtown is protected.
The property is open to the public and accessible through the Frenchtown Borough Park. The corridor is a popular walking path for residents and anglers have long sought out the quiet pools of the Nishisakawick Creek. HLTA is working with local volunteers to develop a hiking trail from the Borough Park, along the creek and through the property.
Take a hike up the creek and enjoy an afternoon relishing Hunterdon County's natural beauty! |
